I recently joined USAA to take advantage of the supposed benefits to military members. I have found that you must be careful when dealing with USAA. My wife deposited her paycheck at a UPS store, as directed by USAA, and found that USAA will not release those funds for a week. Direct deposit is fine, but if you have a physical check, they claim that they must get the money from the bank it is drawn on before they will release your funds. When we consider this major issue with USAA, we find that many local credit unions offer the same or better banking and lending opportunities. So, for now, an entire paycheck is on hold for a week. Potential customers beware!!
