Received a phone call, to my 89 yr. Old Mother in law (only land line associated with me), with notification that I had 24hrs to call back, or I would be 'arrested' for a debt owed... My spouse called and spoke with Daniel Cortez, who demanded payment on an 'old', closed account, on my credit report (Experian). When my spouse refused to provide credit card/debit card/bank check details, Cortez threatened a civil suit... Or payment within 72 hours to an address/suite number.
After telephone inquiries and internet research... This collection company is a 'Scam' with a UPS station for an address. When Cortez called back, my spouse challenged him with our discoveries, and he was speechless...
My spouse further stated that Cortez's tactics were not appreciated and that we did not want to hear from him again...
Beware of collection agencies, especially when they threaten you...
Personal information is available on the internet, despite objection...
