I received a Summons and Complaint filed with the local civil court demanding payment for a credit card balance. The bank named in the suit I have never done business with, never had a credit card with and never ever heard of before this. For verification they attached a typed piece of paper with my name, ss#, the bank's name, a date and an account number. I pulled my credit report and Palisades had opened a pass-due account on my credit report dated 6/17. No where else on my credit report does it show a credit card in the name of this bank. Palisades hired an attorney out of Georgia to represent them in the SC court. Anyone know how to fight this, I will answer the summons but I am not a lawyer and can not afford one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
