CARD PROCESSING CENTER excessive and bogus late charges Hicksville

I had an account with NewPort News, not Spiegel. It was taken over by the same company as Spiegel because Newport News and Spiegel, Newport News and Eddie Bauer, were all owned by the same company.

I paid on my account as always and noticed at first the minimum payments were higher and the account was closed. The billing cycle was 32 days. I made my payments on time.in November I made a large payment of $300.00 to hurry and pay off the account. I got a bill for a $60.00 late fee and it claimed I missed two months payments.

There is no phone number on the bill or e-mail address. There are two addresses. Also, the billing cycle went from 32 days to 29 days. The $300.00 payment I mailed on 11-24-03 and was due on 12-01-03: They claim it did not arrive until 12-08-03. The Oct. Payment mailed 10-25-03 was also claimed to be late. So I was charged two $35.00 late fees even though I sent them over $330.00 in two months and the minimum due for two months was $30.00.

I am disabled and do not get very much money a month, now I have to deal with people that think I am an idiot. I may be disabled but I am not stupid. I can mail a letter from my home on 11-24-03 and it would reach Frankfurt, Germany before 12-08-03. My husband is from Frankfurt and he still has relatives there and I write to them. I know how long it takes.

I cannot believe these people are treating their customers this way. This is disgraceful. I cannot afford these prices or outlandish late fees. I cannot pay them on-line or over the phone as they will not provide me their phone number or e-mail address. I have spent hours on line doing web searches in order to pay them on line.

This is all I have been able to locate about them. Boy is it true, they seem to take pleasure in hurting the small people. Spiegel, Newport News and Eddie Bauer have nothing to do with this company. They bought out their credit company. Spiegel, Newport News and Eddie Bauer, now have a new Credit Card Co. That is nice and fair. Unfortunately, until I pay off this old account I cannot afford to open a new one.

I hope all of the other unfortunate people that have to deal with this company, can get them paid off soon and that there is justice somewhere in this world. May God Bless us All.
