Denied a claim using unreasonable and absurd reasons

A terrible ice storm hit my town and destroyed my swimming pool pump and filter. Union Mutual Homeowners Insurance took forever to look into it and then denied my claim. They actually said I should have provided heat to the fixtures and that I should have drained the pool. This is an outdoor pool and even if I wanted to provide heat, there was a power outage everywhere. This storm hit us in January, and I'm still not getting and cooperation from these people...
