Gift2Go issued an unusable $95 Visa gift card to replace a $100 Visa gift card purchased at Walgrens. The original purchase was in 9/10 in Tulsa. When the recipient tried to use it in November it was demied for $0 balance. On-line checking showed it had been fraudulently zeroed-out on 10/24/09 in Anaheim, CA. I filed a disputed transaction report with Cardholder Services on 11/25/09.
After never hearing back on the disputed claim, a call on 8/4 resulted in them sending me a replacement Visa Gift Card for $95 ($5 fee deducted from original $100) in a few days. I activated the card by phone as instructed, and the online www.gift2go.net web site shows a $95 balance.
No merchants will accept the card, "transaction denied". When attempting to contact gift2go at their 866-643-0027 number, I now get a message to call a foreign number 10-15-15-8000 or use an on-line service calling10.com, with warnings that a nearly $5 fee will be charged. It appears that gift2go is shielding themselves from customers that they have scammed out of the money spent to purchase the Visa gift cards.
I have an unusable card and am out the original $100 plus the service charge charged for the card originally at Walgrens, and no reasonable way to contact the scamming company.
What a rip-off!
