Capital One had a massive credit card rate hike, across the board, late last year. Apparently there was a mailing that detailed this.
When I received my statement after the hike, I called the customer service to get an explanation. The initial rep could not answer all my questions and I was placed into a voicemail for a senior rep. That rep called me back within a couple days and and stated that I could "opt out" of the rate hike but would not be able to make any additional purchases on the card, just pay the balance at the old rate. I chose that.
A couple months later I went to use my Rewards miles that show on every statement. I was told that since the card account was "closed" that I could not use the Rewards. My comment was that I did not "close" the account and that word was not used in the conversation with the senior rep that called me. Nor was that fact that I would loose all my accumulated miles.
I have been through dozens of reps, senior reps, the formal snail-mail letter they asked for and all have continued to lead to "sorry, the account is closed, there is nothing we can do".
I am very fiscally conservative and have been an on-time payer to Capital One for over 15 years. There is no way I would have forfeited the Rewards if that had been mentioned in the conversation.
All I am looking for is my Rewards, that continue to show on my statements, or a cash equivalent. They can even take that off my balance to keep it all internal, I don't care.
I feel I have been wronged and I do not want to just "let it go".
Any others?
