On April 25 I tried for the first time to redeem my "No Hassle" cash rewards. It took a while to get the right phone number and talk to a live person. I was told the cash rewards would be in my account in 5 to 7 business days. It didn't show up, so I paid my current statement in full.
Since then it has still not shown up, and my account did not accumulate cash rewards from my last statement. I have called twice, and been told each time that they need 5 to 7 business days to investigate what they did with my cash rewards.
I asked if they would be paying interest for the late payement. At first the service rep thought I must be referring to interest I was charged for underpayment on my account. No doubt this is a common problem if customers rely on the cash rewards being in their account in 5 to 7 business days. It is probably a good money-maker for Capital One.
I explained that I had paid my card in full, so I didn't get charged interest. What I wanted was Capital One to pay me interest for their late payment of my cash rewards. The service rep said they don't do that because the cash reward is a "gift."
Over a month later, I still haven't gotten a single return call, or my "gift." And my online account shows a zero balance for cash rewards.
