Unethical business practices

Upon moving to Florida we used George Koury and Associates as brokers to retain medical insurance for a family owned business. This relationship started in 2006 and ended in 2010. We maintained a group policy for approximately four years at an average cost of $2500.00. During this period the level of service from this organization was barely satisfactory. Once we made a decision to close the business and convert our group plan to individual plans the satisfactory service turned into horror; within a few months of the individual plans kicking in our billing at BCBS became convoluted and when I attempted to retrieve an explanation from George Koury and Associates they did not want to be bothered. I asked them to verify and forward payment history for a given period. After the office staff could not comply with my requests I was referred to Angie who I was told was the office manager and a principle in the business.in four years this was the first and only contact I had with this individual. I explained to Angie that I had invoices from BCBS that concurred with my records of payment history however one month payment remained in question and this is what I need verified. She refused to assist me when I requested documentation and justified her response by stating that it was previously given to me a few days earlier when my wife and I were in the office. That was an out and out lie by Angie. During our office visit we spoke to one and only one person, Robert a broker in the office. We were in the office comparing different quotes on various policies. When I politely told her she was wrong and I again requested the information she refused to cooperate. Just a footnote it was I who was pro-active and initiated the contact to get the explanation and at the time there was only one month in question. Previous to speaking to Angie I spoke to BCBS customer service who stated that one month premium would have to be paid within two days to prevent cancellation. I disagreed with their records so I called George Koury. To summarize the rest of this experience the end result is as follows; in addition to Angie's made up lies by the end of the phone call she stated to both my wife and I that the one month payment requested by BCBS would no longer suffice. She was now demanding more than twice the payment and if not wired by 3:00pm the same day we would be cancelled. It seems that she and she alone changed the terms just for spite. For the record my payment history was correct as BCBS failed to post a check by phone. If Angie would have cooperated rather than being short, rude and dishonest this entire ordeal could of been avoided. The obvious lesson learned is that as long as we were spending lots of money every month we could get some level of cooperation however when going from a group plan to individual plans the brokers commission was reduced and all customer service was replaced by complete discord and arrogance. I would not recommend the services of George Koury & Associates to anyone.in the interim we discovered many satisfactory brokers in North Florida who understands the meaning of customer service to all their customers, large and small.
