I opened an account at Charter One Bank because my employer was having an account credit special. This was the biggest mistake I have ever made!
The customer service reps at this bank are extremely rude! The last straw was trying to resolve a problem resulting from a deposit I made in check form where the check bounced due to an error on the part of the bank it was drawn on.
I could not keep up with the fees being assessed to this account! I was charged over $150.00 in NSF fees from this one transactin. Many of these fees were added on a daily basis!
I called them or stopped in person more than once trying to resolve the problem. I deposited the amount that I was told the account was in arrears and before they even credited the check they charged my account another $60.00!!
It took them 3 full days to credit the deposit I made to try to cover these fees and in the meantime they charged my account on 2 consecutive days for $30.00 at a time!
I could not even get to the bank to fix the problem before the problem was bigger!!! I have never had such a miserable experience in all my short life with a bank!
I will be writing to the President of the company, the Attorney General and the BBB to file reports, but I sure would not want anyone else to encounter the same problems I did or the same kind of treatment!
Charter One Bank ought to be showing quite a large profit this year from all the bogus fees they are charging thier customers!
I told all my co-workers who had taken advantage of this great (?) offer how I had been treated and they have all closed thier accounts at this bank!
