GreenPoint Credit rip off destroyed our good faith in loan companies and cannot be trusted

My husband bought a beautiful 1996 Cavco double wide mobile home brand new straight off the lot and had it set in a reputable trailer community. Everything was good, he was 24 years old and owned his own home. Every July when the insurance came due he fought with his finance company, GreenPoint Credit about wheather or not he had a current policy, and eventually did get them to understand that he did. Or at least that's the way it happened in the beginning.

About two years ago GreenPoint lost all of our insurance information and has been charging us for the forced placed policy, but not consitantly.in April they say we do not have insurance and charge for it, then in May they say we do have insurance and they don't charge for it then in June they say we haven't had insurance for a few months and charge back for it. I work for an insurance company I know the process of how mortgage companies are contacted. I know that your mortage company gets notification everytime something is added, changed, or removed from your policy.

They get notification at every renewal and they are notified everytime a new letter is sent out regaurding your homeowners insurance. I don't understand how all contact can be lost.

But the insurance is not the worst of the problems they have caused. Before my husband and I met he was living with his ex who caused alot of financial difficulties. He was extremely proud of his credit score and did not want to end up losing everything over a woman, so he took in a roomate to help him pay the bills and kicked the ex out. The roommate had access to the GreenPoint Credit account in order to get information and ussually took care of everything having to do with it.

Then one day a check bounced as far as GreenPoint says (the bank statement he has says that check would have been fine, but hey what does the bank know) My husband and his roommate got into one hellish fight he blamed her and she was confused, her husband threaten to leave her if she didn't stop lieing and the whole thing was out of controll. They stopped mailing checks. They now only mailed money orders and cashiers checks so that they could be gaurenteed that a payment would never bounce again, right.

Wrong, did you know that a money order can be returned and show as insufficient funds. Or that a cashiers check for $210.00 can clear only for $78.54 and the rest be declared insuficent funds. I was unaware of this, the bank where these items were purchaced was unaware of this, apparently the only company in the world that believes that this is a possiblity is GreenPoint Credit. The other problem that we are having is that theat $210.00 cashiers check they said cleared only for $78.54 was not mailed by us, our payment is 255.64 nad we send payment of at least 256.00.

They are also claiming that we have made payment by phone that has bounced. We tried once almost 3 years ago to make a payment over the phone, we were told that they did not accept that form of payment. I have been fighting with them personally for about a month now and have spoken to 5 differant people who each don't know the other 4 even exsist let alone work there. My husband is at his witts end with them, his beloved perfect credit score is so badly blemished we couldn't get finaced for a bag of peanuts.

Greenpoint right now is saying that the pay off balance for a home my husband purchaced in 1996 for 36,000 is 37,000. We have detailed records that show only one payment in the last 7 years has been late, we have had insurance since the beginning that has never lapsed, and we have made serveral hundred attempts to correct our credit with GreenPoint. I have read all of the entries on this site about GreenPoint, and all I want to know is how can company have this many complaints about the exact same thing and stay in business? I have heard a few rumors though, such as GreenPoint is filing bankruptcy, or that they are being bought out by Conseco. I don't care what happens to them as a company as long as it means they can no longer treat thier customers like this.
