I am currently trying to pay off a mobile home purchased in 1995. We (two small children) started out with Bank America Housing Services. Husband has been absent since 1998. I have paid all payments to Bank America and then to Greenpoint Credit. And now Green Tree as they purchased the loan servicing business of GreenPoint on November 1.

GreenTree did delete husbands name from billing statement but informed me they do not have a program to remove a name from the contract or title. GreenPoint informed me that in order to remove a name from a loan they require a copy of the death certificate.

I wrote a letter to Green Point asking about refinancing. My response was that GreenPoint Credit was exiting the manufactured housing lending business, however, GreenPoint Credit retains and will continue servicing all existing loans. You may wish to contact your local financial institution to find out what refinancing programs they have available.

I wrote a letter to Green Tree asking about refinancing. My response was enclosed, please find a copy of the Retail Installment Contract and Security Agreement ("contract") for the loan. Your signature on the contract indicates that you read, understood and agreed to the terms of the loan. Please note that the contractual loan term is for 240 months. The current remaining term is 96 months. The title will be released when the loan is paid in full. Additionally, please be aware that Green Tree does not have a program to remove a name from the contract or title.

I contacted my financial institution to start work on refinancing. There is a negative report on my credit report from Green Tree as I was once one month late on my payment. I called Green Tree customer service and asked if they would please remove this negative report as I was trying to refinance and thus pay off Green Tree. The answer was NO. I asked if there was anyone else I could speak with and the anwer was NO. He asked if there was anything else he could help me with and then said I see you have mobile home insurance - but could he give me a quote for insurance with GreenTree!?!
How can I get my report cleared.
