I had a certificate of deposit mature on December 24. I called Metlife Bank on December 22, to ensure that my maturing CD funds would be sent back to me upon maturity. I was told that the funds would be back in my account December 28. This was a VERY large CD.
On December 30, still no money. I called them. I was told my request had not been processed (FYI - all these conversations were recorded by MetLife). Why not? No reason. I was told I MAY get my money January 4, but there would be no guarantee! I said this was not acceptable and unethical. I was told I would get a call back in the next day to see "what could be done."
Next day, no call. So I called. Unbelievably, my request had still not been processed! That is, apparently, and acceptable excuse.
I can send my money via ACH in one minute via the internet, but I may not get my money back, as agreed, for at least 11 days. And, to further aggravate me, they said they may not pay interest, as they get a grace period!
I do not know how to get my money back!!!
Can you imagine the grace period I would get for not paying my credit card on time? Or mortgage? Do not use this bank.
