I received a call at my job from one of their henchmen. I will call him AH. AH informed me that my payment was past due. I assumed that it was but I had not received a statement from them in about 2 months and really did not know how to contact them.
I informed AH that I had not received a statement. He presumbly checked and said it had been mailed and they had not received the statement back as return to sender. AH said it must have been lost in the mail.
I asked what I needed to pay to get my acct up to date and he told me. He then requested that I pay by phone from my checking acct. I politely declined and told him I would rather just send a check in the mail. He went on and on about how much safer it is to do this over the phone and I continued to decline. He persisted in this payment option and said that my check could easily get lost in the mail just like my statement had been.
I finally told him very firmly NO and he continued on and on. He wouldn't shut up. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he said (I'm not sure his exact words but this was close)"Why would you want to do that? Do you think that will get your payment here any quicker?"
Of course I became very infuriated and called him a few choice names. I told him he was a real asshole and he said, "I'm not trying to be". I then said if he wanted his damn money he could come get it and hung up on him. The bad thing is that AH never raised his voice but he was so sarcastically nice that he might as well have been screaming at me.
I haven't talked to anyone else from FCNB, but I'm sure this isn't the end of it, especially since I haven't paid them anymore money.
