I went to DORA http://www.dora. State.Co. Us / Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies Home Page for Consumer and found out that it is illegal to ask for money upfront for a loan modification in the state of Colorado. I paid a total of $1000.00, which I never got it from Smart Modification LLC which they guaranteed a refund if the deal didnt go through. Now I have received a note from Smart Modification, LLC dated August 27 that they were forced to close its doors due to financial inability to continue its operation and they are not able to pay vendors, support contract labor, leases and etc. Smart Modification, LLC took my money and have not modified my loan yet and I want to know if anything can be done to bring these people to justice?
