I used to work for this company as a full-time bill collector, so I know exactly how ruthless they can be. They will pretty much hire anyone off the street and have them continually harass debtors into not only paying in full, but to go down to the post office and pay extra charges to have a money order sent overnight. We had a script we had to go by and were not allowed to be compassionate on the phone, but instead were trained to be ruthless and use a number of tactics to get them to pay.
I quit that low-life job and a few years later found they were calling my new cell phone number, asking for someone who I never heard of. I told them I just got the number and to remove me off their list. Unfortunately, my first name was the same name as one of the debtor's contacts, so they refused to remove my number and insisted I was lying. At one point the collector actually disclosed information about the account illegally to me in order to get me to pay the bill.
After a long 4-month battle and after talking to several managers I finally had my number changed. It was the only way to stop the calls.
