On 01/28, there was a kitchen fire in my rented townhouse at 2059 Blackwolf Run Lane, Raleigh, N C 27604 caused by a defective electric range. Over a year later, Carol Wichmann, Spec Tec of The Charter Oak Fire Insurance Company, (a subsidery of Travelers Insurance Company) filed a subrogation claim against me for $12,482.47, which was the amount that had been paid to the owner of the house for the damages caused by the fire.
I complained to the North Carolina Department of Insurance three times. Three times, Linda Hinson Ambrose, Esquire, the staff attorney for Travelers Insurance Company, of Rogers & Associates, Suite 650 3000 Riverchase Galleria, Birmingham, Alabama 35244 maintained that I was responsible for the damages caused by the fire because I had used the range in order to cook.
Kimberly A Perry, of The N C Department of Insurance advised me that I would have to go in front of a judge and prove I was not responsible for causing the fire.
The $12,482.47 claim was forwarded to Credit Collection Services, 2 Wells Avenue, Ste 1, Newton, MA 02459.
I filed a small claims case for $4,000 against Travelers Insurance Company today. The case is going to be heard in Judge Carson's 9H Wake County Superior Court courtroom at 9.30 AM on 07/15.
