On or around April 6 I hit a sign that I was owned by a Construction company. The construction company was covered by Travelers Insurance and I was in turn invoiced for the damages. Since I have full cover with my automobile insurance coverage, I proceeded to forward the invoice to Infinity Insurance. When I received the invoice, it stated that four thousand dollars and some change was owed. I come to find out after the fact that the company actually invoiced my insurance FOURTEEN thousand dollars and some change.
The maximum that my insurance would pay out per my coverage is $10K so they did and settled. Well, my problem is that I also hit the guardrail when I had an accident and around two thousand dollars is owed to CalTrans. My insurance stated that since Travelers Insurance collected all of my property damage limit per my insurance policy, that I'd have to take care of CalTrans out of pocket. Now I recently found out that CalTrans sent me into collections and is reflected in my credit report. I need to figure out how I can recover the excess amount that was paid out to travelers. I left a message for the adjuster today but she was out for the day (go figure). I'll keep you posted as I'm prepared to escalate this to all the necessary contacts until resolved. Beware that Travelers Insurance does act VERY unethical in trying to get away with this. They f*cked my credit up!
