Payment Made at Jewelry Store Cleared Bank but Late Fee Charged

I paid my bill at Whitehall jewelry store on Friday May 9. Bill was due on Tuesday May 13. Check cleared my account Monday May 12. I was billed a late fee of $29.00 on May 13 by GE Capital stating they had not received my payment.
