GE Capital ripoff. Bill was paid and check was cashed. They said they didn't receive it and are charging me a late fee

I paid my bill at whitehall jewelry store on friday may 9. Bill was due on tuesday may 13 check cleared my account monday may 12. I was billed a late fee of $29.00 on may 13 by ge capital stating they had not recieved my payment.
