Trust Title Company, 1st Streamline Mortgage, Plaza Home Mortgage Refinancing Your Home? Buyer Beware

I'm in the military. We bought a house in November and then came down on orders to move to another state. After a few months, we got a letter in the mail offering to refinance our home loan with a streamline mortgage by Streamline 1st Mortgage, who are based out of Maryland. We started the process in April, then moved to the new home (which is a rental). We were set to close on May 14th, and I was instructed not to pay my next two months of rent to the original Mortgage company since I would close prior to the 15th.

The mortgage company sent over a lawyer and a notary who were pretty clueless on what the paperwork was. But since this was our first time doing this, we assumed (mistake) that they knew what they were doing. We signed everything, and that paperwork was sent off to Trust Title Company. The title company sent it off to the lender, Plaza Home Mortgage based out of Florida who promptly kicked it back because of signature inaccurracies (some had Jr., some did not based on what the signature block asked for). I was contacted by the same lawyer and we sat down and resigned everything again. That paperwork was sent off and was told that everything was good to go.

I get a call on June 8th by the owner of Streamline 1st Mortgage, Tom Bell, who said that my loan had not closed and I was going to have to play catch up on the last two months, but they would offer to pay one of those months. I was pissed but kept my composure. He blamed Trust Title Company for not getting the paperwork to the lender in time. Trust Title Company, headed by Kip Gardner, blamed the Streamline for not locking in the rate or paying to have the rate extended and they blamed Plaza (the lender) for being overly strict on signatures since we were using my social security number.

Needless to say, what I ended up with was two worthless letters from both owners that I sent to the Credit Companies and to my original Broker (who won't fix it because it was not their fault) and one month back pay. I could go into more detail, but needless to say, please, use caution when dealing with this crooks.
