Missing Money and Adding Fees

As listed in the subject line, there are actually two topics here. Every time I go through the process of balancing my checking account, I find numbers that do not add up on their end. I have tried to figure the numbers the way they do but we never see eye to eye. Once I subtract the items that have not cleared and matched all of the transactions, my balence and their balance should match (this is after I have checked my math).inevitably, there is usually a difference of $200 or more. Sometimes the money goes back on - other times they show more than we do. Where is the money? Where does it come from, where does it go? How do I know what is mine so I can find a new bank? Recently, they took out money for a debit purchase. We were even able to view the transaction online. Then the transaction online "disappeared" and the money was still listed in the account. Then the transaction "reappeared" and the money was once again gone. This disappearing, reappearing funds took one week.

The other problem - I visit my mother only once or twice a year. She lives in Georgia, I live in Tennessee. Every time I one particular ATM that says it is a SunTrust machine, I am charged $3.50. When I called to have the charge removed and explained that these were, in fact, SunTrust ATM's, the lady on the phone tried to argue with me. Her argument - we wouldn't have charged you if it was one of ours (even though using one owned by another bank usually incurs 2 charges). She reluctantly agreed to reverse the charges when I said I received confirmation information from a branch in Georgia.
