I had gotten my bank statement over the weekend. I was going throught the debit charges, checks, etc.; and I found a charge from a Cic Credit Monitor for $79.95. I knew I had not made that charge, and I asked my husband who also knew nothing of it. On Tuesday morning I called the bank to find a number for this place of business. The bank associate told me that it was from my husband's card.
So, I called this Cic. The representative at Cic asked me for the card that was used. She told me the name that was associated with this account. This name was not known by either me or my husband. The lady was from Georgia. The rep told me that I would have to file a police report in Georgia against this woman for falsely using this bank account number. I live over an hour from the Georgia line.
I called my bank back and told them what the representative had told me. The bank associate told me that all I needed to do was to fax a statement to her telling what had happened, and that we didn't know this woman that had made the charge. The bank associate told me she didn't know why people had to make things so difficult. She also explained that my husband's bank card would be put on an inactive status for 10 business days until the matter was resolved. This is a truly aggravating thing when you are accustomed to carrying the little card to buy gas, necessities, or whatever the case may be.
I decided to call Cic back to make sure that the woman had gotten her credit report and not one linked to my husband or myself. All I could think was that my husband was getting ready to go through a battle for stolen identity. She had indeed gotten her own and not one associated with either of us. This Cic representative told me that I needed to file a police report also. I told her that I had spoken with a Cic rep earlier, and that she had told me that I would have to file one in Georgia. This rep told me no that was a mistakel I could file one at my local police department.
I then called the local police department and explained the situation. The officer told me that they would be unable to help me. He said that I would have to file a report in the area that the charges originated from. This meant that I would have to file charges in California. I can honestly see me going to California to file charges on a woman that lives in Georgia over a charge that was made to a comapy in California! HONESTLY!
Wednesday afternoon it began eating at me again. I called back to Cic. I asked to speak to the manager in charge. I explained what had happened. He too told me that I would have to file a police report. I would have loved to have told him where he could shove that police report. He also told me that I could file one locally, and I told him that my local police department said that it was not in their jurisdiction. He was apathetic and a jerk. I explained to him that I was on disability, and that a $79.95 charge made a huge difference in a budget. He could have cared less. It means whether I can buy my rejection medicines or not, or whether I have my private health insurance or not. I told him that he worked for a sorry company and that they did BAD business. I also told him that I knew of a website that was out there to try to bring justice to those who have been ripped off by companies such as his. I also informed him that I was going to be filing a report against them. He said that was my choice-which I am exercising GLADLY!!!
Comapnies such as Cic should be closed. They make things difficult for hte honest people trying to make a living, those that are barely scraping by, and those that are afraid that someone is doing somethimg to violate them in some way. They are the low-life scum of the earth and are just as bad as those they are supposedly trying to protect people from. I highly suggest that anyone considering using Cic Crdit Monitor-DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are theives, scam artists, and apathetic buttholes!
I hope that I have the last laugh on them. I am hoping that the bank will have things straightened out in a few more days.
