Oct. 28 2008 I suffered a heart attack;"it was not planned"I had made a payment to att that samr week for $230.00 I did not make the deposit due to unplanned sickness. After 5 days in the hospital I returned home, tired weak and exhausted. The neighbor had got my mail and I went through it a little each day, when I came upon a huntington letter dated oct 31 my ballance was 115.28
I then got a letter dated 2 days later stating that my Att payment bounced and I owed a 37.50 fee being sick and unable to go out I figured I would have to wait as per doctors orders. I was called and e-mailed 11/03 11/06 12/19 which each time I tryed to explain that I was bed ridden and realize my mistake and will be in asap to pay the od fee on 12 16 I was informed that I will also be charged $7 a day untill the 36.17 is paid
I state that I was not aware of the $7 fee and would have crawled 2 miles to the bank if I had known this.
I then asked why they wasted postage and sent 3 letters and 4 e-mails and never mentioned the $7. The unkind woman told me she is looking at a copy on her computer and it is on the letter, I appologized and said I will look at my copy and if so pay said amount. It was not on no statement till mid December when I spoke to Hunt me down next I asked to speak to a supervsor, she abusively told me that it was in my fine print of my checking aggreemnt and I owe it.
Bewildered I asked why they would send out these 3 letters "which I held in my hand"and never mention the $7 fee untill it had grown to over $300. I admit by that time I was hot enough to ignite and stressed so I told her if she will agree to drop the rip off fee I will pay the 35.67 she then said bring that in so when I asked again she said just bring that in then I can pay off the rest.
That is when I told her I will pay them when pigs fly and hung up, even though my account was closed a payment request was made by another company and they added more charges. The bad part is they turned in a bad report which in turn helped to close my Att acount leaving me with no phone a bad heart and little faith in humanity. I have waited long enough and this note will hopefully be read by someone who learns from others mistakes and this will be forwarded to Pa state Attny Gen Tom Corbett
