So I'm told that my mortgage company has to buy homeowners insurance, for $1800 per year, that I already have for less than $500 per year. They refuse to acknowledge this. Then they tell me that there has been a tax increase (there has) and that my mortgage payment is going up by almost $300 per month. I just checked with the tax assessor's office: my property tax went up $105 for the year!!! I am being charged almost triple that per month.
I have new insurance, slightly more expensive, about an extra $100 per year. With all the new expenses, I estimate that they are collecting roughly 18 times what is needed to pay the increases. This further seems correct as they promised to look into the matter twice, failed to call back as promised, then sent me a threatening letter.
My response. I'm drafting a lawsuit right now. I hope they enjoy it.
