We always send our payments through quick collect through western union. That is how Equicredit preffered their payments. We payed them about 3 years that way. They notified us in 1999 that our account was behind, and they had filed forclosure on our house. We had all the reciepts. We notified them to try to find out what was going on. They returned 3 checks to us totaling $2300.00.
Then they notified us and said that the house was going to sold at the court house in 15 days and there was nothing we could do about it. We went to a lawyer and he stopped the sale of our home. We had to file chapter 13 to make them take the $2300.00 back and keep our house.
Here it is 5 years later and our loan has been sold out to 2 different morgage companies, and we have paid out of our chapter 13. We went to the bank to get a loan on our home 6 months ago and equicredit had gave us a bad credit rating on the credit report a remaining balance of $5000.00 still owed, even though they sold the morgage and the bankruptcy in 2001. That $5000.00 we don't owe they will never get if we can help it.
