Ceased contact after getting money/debit card #, wouldn't call or e-mail

I recently joined with momsWIN and was going to start my home business. I listened to the informational call and talked with my "mentor" a few times before giving her my debit card #, social security #, etc. It cost 29$ to join and I was to get started training the next day.

I ran into some information on-line that same evening regarding others feeling ripped-off, mislead, etc, by this same company. I quickly e-mailed her telling her that I was having second thoughts and that I needed answers to the questions I found on-line. Things basically that you evidently find out later once you're in. I asked her to not file my papers if she hadn't already and to get back to me with answers. She never did.

In order to cancell my membership, I needed my customer ID #. After reading some of the Melaleuca problems on this site, I wanted to make sure I did everything exactly as asked to be disenrolled. So I requested twice for my representative to tell me if she had filed the paperwork and to give me my ID if she had. Still no word from this woman who was never more that 3 minutes early or late for a phone call appointment when I was interested. So I had to call Melaleuca and tell them I hadn't received my ID# and needed it to get logged-in, she gave it to me and I typed up my letter to Melaleuca.

I am making sure that they sign it and return the signature to me so I know for sure they received it.
Aside from the above mentioned concerns, I should let you all know that as a Melaleuca representative, I am required to buy 35 points of products a month and if I don't they send me whatever I picked or anything. The cost is around 50$ for 35 points. Since I joined so close to the end of the month, if I never received my ID#, and never cancelled, Melaleuca would be sending me a 50$ order here in a couple weeks. This would give my enroller the commission off my order.

I just want people to beware. The website looks so supportive of moms and makes us feel like we can work at home and spend time with our children. I did some math and figured out that if I enrolled 20 people who all only bought the minimum, then I could have my point requirements covered every month.

Hardly seems worth all the work to have a bunch of products I don't use now. I know some people use 50$ of personal products and household cleaners, vitamins, etc. Each month. But when I looked around my house, I noticed that my 7$ organic facial cleanser is almost a year old and 1/4 gone. I have very short hair and my shampoo lasts about a year. I just could not find enough stuff that I would actually use to make it worth it. They have a 5 step laundry package, I am lucky enough to just get to the laundry, let alone have 5 products to make sure I put them at the right time.

Remember, momswin and the moms team are all businesses. If they can teach you how to market so others will be interested, they know very well how to hook you too. Get very informed, ask lots of questions, and don't get sucked in by all the posetivity because that goes bye-bye once you aren't sure.

If your contact person laughs a lot upon answering the phone and throughout most of the call to the point where you almost think she is on happy meds, it may just be the very person I was with. I don't mention her name because I want everyone to have their own opinion and experience. I want you to know what to watch out for.
