Our situation is much like the report filed by Kristi from San Diego.
This group of professional rip-off artists really know how to make you feel like you're doing the right thing with the right company. They are all kinds of friendly and helpful when trying to get you on the hook with your "bank account" information while bull rushing you through the process in order to get at your money. Once they have you all signed up they are not so willing to talk or keep in touch.in fact I was not contacted at all as promissed after starting with them. I had to be the one to make that happen and the person that roped us in was like talking to someoene for the very first time when I tried to get some things explained. He hardly knew who I was. Go figure!
This group of professional rip-off artists fail to tell you that you will likely end up in court as a result of their program since the majority of creditors have never heard of them and likley will not deal with them as you have been promised.
They fail to tell you that some of your creditors will not just send your account to collections, they send them directly to an attorney that will come after wages and other tangible sources of income.
They "will" make it seem as though they have all this clout with your creditors and that the creditors actually want to work with them to get their money. These terrific realtionships they say are what allow them to work your settlement amounts down to what they do. They "won't" tell you that you will be taxed (just like income) on the difference in what you owe your creditors and the amount that they supposedly get you settled for.
The long and short of it is that they will get their money (from "your bank account") before anything happens on your behalf.in the mean time you will get call after call after call from your creditors. You are supposed to just ignore these and carry on.
Once they get their money, then and only then do you begin to accrue funds that are to be what pays your creditors. This "will not" do anything to help your credit report or relations with your creditors. The creditors "will not" just sit tight for months at a time while the money accrues to pay them from smallest amount due to the largest.
I stopped making deposits into the account that they were taking our money from after the first 2 months which total about $850. This was after having a few rather enlightening conversations with our creditors.
Then what a surprise... They called. They wondered if there was a problem. I told them there was a problem. I told them that they were not going to assist in getting me out of debt, they were going to land me in a number of court appearances. That is when it got really good. The guy that was oh so friendly at the very beginning, the guy that wanted to know all about my family and what I do and the things I like, that guy... Turns all kinds of rude and insulted me with profanity for my actions. I ended up hanging up on the guy since he took the liberty of calling me at my place of employment.
Beware... They are not as advertised! Do not give up your bank account information or they could really take advantage of you. They will not get you out of debt!!
