I can't believe I was so stupid. Benny Reyes was my grandson's baseball coach and seemed like a pretty believable guy. I was looking to refinance my house and had a few credit troubles as a result of not having any income when I became disabled. To make a long story short my daughter told me that Benny was in that type of work. He agreed to take care of everything for a $200 fee. He told me that he could talk to my creditors and make deals to pay lesser amounts but yet clear them from my credit. I gave him a check for $3258.20. He told me that he deposits them and writes a check on his company check. Sounded reasonable right? Then he came back and said there was another one so I gave him a check for $365.00. This is where it gets good. He asked me if I had ever heard of "paying down points". I hadn't he explained it and he said that I could get a 2% cheaper interest rate. I didn't have the money to pay all of it at one time so I gave him a check for $1498.22 and another one for $1428.15. So now I had given him a total of $6749.57. He now said all was good and he gave us our date for closing on the loan. That day has come and gone. He always had an excuse for why it didn't take place and gave us another date. This all took place in December January and February. I cannot get in touch with him, I heard that hhis wife sold everything in his house. He told me she did it for spite because she had him arrested for abuse. He was in jail alright, My grandson found out that his stepson, who was a friend of his had gone to live with his father because Benny was in jail for writing bad checks. I felt sorry for the jerk thinking his wife had done him wrong. I guess he had to find a different way to making a living because writing bad checks will land you in jail. I have since gotten my loan (I found a lender on the internet) and also had to pay the bills that I was suppose to have already paid again. I had no receipt so I was out of luck. I hope this will keep someone else from making the same mistake that I did. You can't be too careful. If I can find his whereabouts so that I can have him served, I will persue this as a legal matter. I might not get my money but he will spend some time in jail for fraud. So Benny if you read this, I won't be so nice the next time I see you!
