False promises, ripped off and scammed "if it seems to good to be true, then it probably is"

I am a working mother with two young children. I had been wanting to find a way to earn a salary and still allow me to spend more time with my children. I have always been a spectical person with the attitude of "if it seems to good to be true, then it probably is".

It was in November that I read an advertisement in a local suburban newspaper stating "work from home... Legitimate and guaranteed income". Even though I was very hesitant, I thought what could it hurt to check into the advertisement.

I called the number listed in the ad and asked several questions to the operator for the company. I was very impressed with the operators quick responses to my questions. Still hesitant, I did not give any money to them at that time. After re-thinking the conversation I had with the company, I felt confident that this was "what I had been looking for" and was anxiously awaiting to begin working at home.

I called the company back and asked them what I needed to do to get started. They informed me that I would pay $260 and I would receive information, software and self-training instructions to become a medical processer (and work from my home computer).

I did give them my credit card number (which actually was a debit-card number) for the $260. A few days later, I received a package from the processing organization and completed all of the required information... including getting an Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS and opening a business checking account for direct deposit.

I submitted the information back to the company (via fax). Several weeks later, I received a list of 20 doctors and addresses for those doctors. I sent letters to each of the doctors (per the instructions of the processing company) to have the doctors start having their medical claims processed through the streamlined program that I was "working" for. I started receiving the letters back from the doctors offices stating that "no such doctor at this address" or "Return to sender - no such address".

I soon came to the realization that I had been SCAMMED & RIPPED OFF! It's bad enough that the money was taken from me but, even worse (since all of this happened between Thanksgiving and Christmas) my children were CHEATED out of some of their Christmas presents due to the $260 loss.

I find it absolutely disgusting that some people are so greedy and self-absorbed!
