I recieved a check from someone for the purchase of my vehicle. I deposited it into my account. It sat there for 5 business days and then cleared. So i immediately removed the money and used it to pay off my vehicle at another bank. During the next 2-3 weeks i discovered i had been scammed. The bank that was on the check contacted the credit union and told them it was a forgery. So now the credit union has frozen all my accounts and says they will remain frozen until i pay back the money. Now why should i pay for their mistake. Shouldnt there problem be with the issuing bank? I even payed a lawyer 150 bucks and they told him the same thing they told me and he accepted it! What a joke. Someone please tell me that there in the wrong.
