H&R Block's online federal e-filing program screwed up our deductions.instead of putting in the correct amount for the child tax credit, it carried the number from taxable income (the line above child tax credit) over into the child tax credit box. You can't enter the amount of the credit on your own, as the program puts it in based on the amount of children and income. This caused our refund to be lower than it should have been. Now we have to wait for the difference to come after filing an amended return, which I will do myself thank you.
After contacting them about this problem, which could affect anyone that uses the child tax credit deduction while using their sorry site for efiling, I received no response at all.
BUT before using the online filing program, I was not able to log in due to an error in their programing. So I contacted them about the problem, and received a reply within 5 minutes, stating that they were working on it, and it would be fixed in a certain time frame. They only responded to my email because it was a problem that kept people from using their program which in turn blocked H&R Block from collecting fees from those people. Notice I didn't say customers, as their customer service is a joke, there is no email address to be found on the site.
Do not trust the so called guarantee, as you will find it impossible to contact them about their mistake, thereby destroying any chance of them correcting the problem, unless you like waiting on hold till the end of time, being only able to call during their 'working' hours.
The ONLY reason I used their site was to e-file. I wouldn't touch their tax preparers with a ten foot pole as they haven't a clue when it comes to actual tax preparation. It serves me right, I guess to get ripped off for using their crappy e-file online program while sick and dizzy from the flu, silly me, I thought if I made sure that I put in the correct info, it would work properly. Why should I expect for their webmaster and customer service people to be any more qualified to do their own jobs than the tax preparers are with their's? I don't know if they have fixed the bug or not, since they can't bother to respond, so beware!
Don't even bother trying to use their online e-filing if you do not have dsl, cable or other type of fast connection, as I tried using it when our dsl was down, and it took 5 minutes to load a measly page. Needless to say, I waited for the dsl to be functional before trying the program again.
Oh, and thanks H&R Block for the recent pre-approved offer for a mortgage, it will be a cold day in hell when I let you screw up a mortgage with me.
