Midpoint Resolution Group, who was previously known as Federal Credit Recovery (hmm, I wonder why they changed their name) contacted me for the very first time January 11th for a Washington Mutual charged off account.
The representative I spoke to named "Christian" said I owed $4,000. But they wanted me to settle the debt for $1,450.00 by the end of the month of January and said that was all I had to pay. Christian said that if I didn't pay the full $1,450.00, I would be taken to court and have a judgement filed against me by February 15th!!
I was told that I could either pay the amount in full by the end of January, but if I couldn't, I would be given another payment option and was told to call back as soon as the very next day if there were any discrepancies on the payment arrangement.
Within that same day, I was informed by my job (I am in the army Reserves) that I would be getting paid for that month a little later than expected, meaning I probably wouldn't get paid by the end of January to secure a payment with this collections agency.
I called the agency back the following day (January 13) and asked them if I could possibly pay a lesser amount of $200.00 or $300.00 for the account since I was'nt going to be able to make the full payment amount, basically I wanted to try to pay something, so that could see I was serious and willing to work with them. Christian informed me that I was told I no longer had that option and once again if I did not pay the amount in full by the end of January they would forward my account to have a judgement filed against me. Knowing that I didn't have the money I told them that was fine, and they would just have to cancel the payment because there wouldn't be any money in my account. The representative in charge of "my file" was rude and even proceeded to yell at me for canceling the payment plan and hung up on me.
This conversation took place sometime around January 16th. However February 2nd of 2009 my Wells Fargo account was charged $1,450.00 from Midpoint Resolution Group. The charges they made to my account were NOT authorized by me, and now I am not able to work nor go to school due to the fact I've faced almost $150.00 in overdraft fees!!!
So now my account has been overdrawn almost $2,000.00 Midpoint Resolutions Group used my account information to charge my account and it wasn't authorized! These people have threatened to file a judgement against me, I get very rude responses from this Christian guy, and when I ask to speak to someone else who could possibly help me, I get nothing. He won't even let me TALK to anyone else.
I've already filed an investigation with my bank and I plan on closing my checking account by the time this issue is resolved. I've contacted Midpoint Resolution Group 3 times today, out of those 3 times, I was hung up on twice, and the representative who contacted me in regards to my file has used 3 different names, first he was Christian, then two weeks later (yesterday morning) he was "Brandon" and later on that same evening he was "John". He refuses to give me any solid answers on how my money will be refunded or when the exact date will be.
I've already contacted the California Attorney General about this issue and hopefully it will be resolved sooner rather than later. It's really frustrating how quick these people are to take your money but when they owe YOU they give you the run around and B.S. You. Hoping to have this issue resolved within the next week, and I strongly advised anyone else who has been taken advantage of by this agency to contact they state attorney general and a lawyer if they can.
