I signed up for my free credit report a month ago, checked it out, emailed to cancel account and forgot about it. Imagine my surprise when I saw a bill for $79.95 appear on my credit card. First thing I did was hop online, and while trying to find them, I found this site with the multiple consumer complaintss.

Immediately picked up the phone and called ready to do battle and get back as much of my $ as possible per the pro-rated clause of cancelling after 30 days. My email had been acting funky for awhile, so I thought there was a chance my cancellation had not gone through.

Called the customer service # for CIC, 1-888-888-8553, phone was answered by someone named Saul. Or Paul, I coudn't be sure. I explained very briefly that I had not meant to sign up for the service and requested a refund. After asking the usual verification questions he said that yes I did qualify for a full refund, and an email would be sent for verification.

I thanked him and hung up, moments later the email appeared thanking me for trying the company and saying my refund request was being processed.

I'll be back if next CC statement doesn't show that refund, but had to say there may be hope to others who have had a similar problem. Even if the refund doesn't show up, I have the email now as proof that I've cancelled account and should recieve full refund. Good luck to the rest of you!
