Believe it or not we never had any problem with Fairbanks, until we wanted to refianance. All of the sudden we had an additional $2300.00 in fees on our payoff quote. Evidently we had been charged $2003.00 for an insurance policy for the year 2001. I made five phone calls over the next days to Fairbanks and was told a different story each time.
Originally I was told by Fairbanks' Insurance service center that the insurance policy was written by Safeco, but for some reason Fairbanks could not provide me with a policy number. When I called Safeco there was no record of our property address having a policy.
When I called back, suddenly our coverage was written by another company and still no policy number was available. Everytime I call, the person I am speaking to, tells me that the last person gave me the wrong info. So we are closing our refinance tomorrow and I think it will take an act of congress to get our money back.
The only thing I fear is who will my loan be transfered to next. I have filed several reports with different agencies and written my states senators and hope they can save other homeowners from this company.
