I have a mortgage with select portfolio, for a piece of rental property. My tenants moved out in October and the building has been empty since then causing me to fall behind in my mortgage payments. There have been daily calls to see when payments would resume. I tried to do a short sale and that didnt work out, and I also tried a deed in leu and that as well failed. I finally have a tenant and contacted the company to set up a payment plan. They were adamant that they wanted at least the two months in arrears up front. There suggestions was to borrow against my ira, or pension from another state which I can collect when I turn 60. They also suggested that I get the money from my invalid mother, who I presently care for. None of these are options for me, and taking the money from my mother is illegal. They offer on their website a 6 month repayment plan but none was offered to me. With the state of the economay and lee county florida having the highest foreclousre rate in the whole state you would think they would be more agreeable to working out a payment plan.
