I realized I had made a small error in my book keeping and if everything cleared I would be negative. 63 cents. Yes that is correct less than one dollar. I was on my way to deposit $5 into the atm when I realized I did not have my card with me. I had misplaced my card and the bank was not open the hours I am working. I called on Saturday December 6h and talked to a Lisa at 24 hour banking. Lisa called my branch and told me she talked with John at the branch who agreed to wave the $35 fee I had been charged. I then deposited the $5 into my account as I agreed to. Here is where it gets messed up.
I received a letter in the mail on Friday December 12th advising I was almost $100 in the hole and that I was being charged a negative balance fee of $8 a day and if I did not bring the account current they would charge me a $30 closure fee and report me to a credit reporting agency. I was so angry I could not see straight.
Friday night I called my branch directly and talk to a Silvie who said she would talk to John and see what could be done. I advised her I would never allow my account to go from $35.63 negative to almost $100 in the hole and that I don't appreciate being told something would be taken care of and then not. She advised she would talk to John on Saturday and call me back but she assured me she would take care of it.
I got a call on Saturday and was advised that she had talked to john and he did not remember the conversation and that since it was not a bank error she would not refund any of the fees.
I then called 24 hour banking again and talked to a very nice representative by the name of Linda and she agreed it was unfair to tell someone you were going to take care of something and then just pile on more fees and more fees. She agreed to wave $50 of the fees and I made the deposit and this nightmare is over. I am upset for several reasons, the biggest one is that I was told something would be taken care of and then was not 2. Excessive fees over less than a dollar overdrawn.
I did get somewhat justice but still not happy being out $50 dollars but it could have been much worse.
To John and Silvie at the Tigard branch... Sorry you did not get your Christmas bonus off me.
There won't be a next time. I closed my account indefinitely.
