Fairbanks Capitol Corp & Equicredit
Unjustified hazard insurance suspense payments raised mortgage payment victimized many consumers

My mortgage was purchased first by equicredit then by Fairbanks, some where in the process both companies place Fire / hazard insurance on the home. The problem is, I already have home owner insurance and always have had for years even before this mortgage was originated.

I called Equicredit and also Travelers ins called and faxed them proof of prior coverage, this proof was good enought to get the insurance they had placed removed, but not good enough to get the 649 dollar charge removed. Equicredit was in the process of tranferring this account to Fairbanks at the time and assured me the charges would be removed in the new system.

When Fairbanks got the account they to promptly placed Hazard insurance on the home. And again I went thru all of the calls and proving that I had prior insurance, again it was enough to have the insurance removed but not the charges.

Every month I would call twice and demand they remove the charges from my account and every month they would assure me this would be done by the following month. This has been over a full year now.

Four month ago Fairbanks took my monthly Mortgage payment and applied it to this bogus outstanding balance and are now showing my loan a full month in the rear even though they have received a payment every month. Along with this they have raised my monthly payment by 52.00 amonth to try to force me to pay this mistake of thiers. If I try to pay the regular payment they put the paymnet in suspense and then charge me like the payment hasent been made. When I pay the next payment they take the 52.00 plus a late fee from it then make the previous months payment.

This is very aggrivating and I am sure this is damaging my credit, I call them once a week now and they tell me to pay the payment at the higher rate and they will refund it when the finally get thier act togethor, (Idoubt this will happen).

As of this morning I have decided to hire an attorny and sue them for all they have done to me and also for the legal fees I occur, I will also make them correct my credit report.
