The Grant University - IBW Club
Deceptive Theft

I was one to those gulible unsuspecting consumers taken by The Grant University and IBW Club. I feel these two companies are very risky and deceptive in thier business practices. Consumer beware. If you intend to do business with one or both of these companies, make absolute sure you read ALL the fine print.

I am attempting to start a new business. I am in need of fianancial assistance, so I fell for the "deal", $1.98 quick start Cd. I did quite a bit of research, and after hours of gruelling research involving numerous "grant" sites, I felt The Grant University was a good company to try. I never received the so called quick start Cd, and while waiting for the Cd, my bank account got charged $69.95. I called the 877 number, and complained about the charge. The person on the other end of the phone was of foreign nationality, could barely speak english, so understanding what she was saying just added to my frustration. After approximately 45 minutes of this person arguing with me, and refusing to refund the money taken from my account, I finally had to end the conversation. I called my bank, filed a complaint with them. I called The Grant University back, after talking to my bank, and again, had problems with them refunding my money.

It took my bank threatening to file fraud claims against The Grant University and me threatening to go to the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General's office, to finally get the money refunded to my bank account.

Now, approximately a month later, the bank notified me of another suspiscious activity with my account, where somebody was attempting to take funds from my account. This time it was IWB Club. They took $29.95 form my account. I called the 866 number to inquire and complain about the funds taken from my account. Again, I had to wait on the phone for approximately 30 minutes, then got a person of foreign nationality whom could barely speak english. This person argued with me again approximately 30 minutes. This person held to the statement this company had the right to take the funds from my account because I had an account with The Grant University. Again it took me threatening to file fraud claims through my bank, and I had to repeatedly threaten to contact the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General's office, to persuade the individual to agree to refund the funds removed from my bank account.

The individual I was talking to also stated it would take 3 to 5 business days to get the funds back into my bank account, and if the funds were not back in my account within that time, I am to call this company back. I had to inform this individual I would not be calling this company back, but instead be contacting the Attorney General's office and filing a fraud claim with my banking institute.
