I too have been scammed by Wamu with these over the limit fees. I've had a mastercard from Wamu for the past 3 years. The first two years were relatively uneventful until 2008. Coincidentally is also the year Wamu stocks crashed and Wamu was bailed out by Chase Bank. Anyway, I routinely paid my credit balances on time as indicated on the credit card statements.
However, in March I noticed that Wamu started assessing a $39.00 over the limit fee every month, regardless of what I paid. This gouging continued despite my many complaints to the company. My complaints to customer service (foriegners) and through e-mail were simply ignored.
I became so frustrated with the over the limit fees, that I finally stopped paying them anything. I have since ignored their daily phone calls from collections. This resulted in negative credit reports but I consider this a necessary sacrifice to prevail against this company. Once the account is sent to a collections agency maybe I can negotiate and pay off what I actually these scam artist.
