I have had an account with Teachers Federal Credit Union for about 5 years now. Suddenly they started not accepting checks.
My husband wrote a check for me for our house payment and other bills. I deposited the check. The money came out of his account with in a few days.
When the check for the house payment came through, it was covered by "overdraft" (which caused a "service fee" of $30.00!) THEN other checks BOUNCED.
All this happened while I had enough funds in the account!!! When I called them they claimed it was their policy to hold on to checks for a week before making the funds available. This was apparantly a "new policy" that they did not make me aware of. (not that's it's a fair policy to begin with)
Days following that incident, I deposited CASH. They held on to THAT as well! I had to have a friend who also had an account there transfer funds so my car payment wouldn't bounce.
Teachers Federal Credit Union will, at their discretion, hold on to MY money, then charge service fees to cover my debits and checks. Then act condecending to me like I did something wrong.
Rip off!!!
