I am a college student at Howard University, trying to make it thought my junior year and build my future and achieve my poetical; which has been difficult if not impossible with the non-cooperation of Bank of America. This situation has not only affected my financial well being but my emotional state as well.
I have been victimized by not only someone around me most likely one of my so called friends or associate but also Bank of America.insult to injury. My health had declined my emotional state has been shaken; I'm crying right now even writing this letter. I can't understand how a company that is supposed to protect their customers will leave my stranded 6 feet deep in dirt and then proceed to bury my alive.
August 30 I was home in Raleigh NC for Labor Day weekend. I have just finished a grueling summer in DC and wanted to visit my family before officially starting my third year of college. That Saturday, the 30th, after coming from the mall with my little sister my parents gave me the telephone stating it was Bank of America, which I thought to be odd. It was their fraud department, the woman proceed to state that they need to verify some transactions on my account. To my surprise she starts listing a number of transactions that have taking place in Washington DC simultaneously while I was in Raleigh NC.
I was utterly confused, how can someone steal my money when one I have my large card with me? I looked to see if the small keychain card was in my purse and it wasn't, I then realized the last time I saw it was at my friend's house a while back. I was even more confused by how they were able to ATM transactions with one my small card and 2. How they got my pin number?
She proceeds to tell me that with the small card if you have an ATM that you swipe at than you can make a transaction. I still don't know if that is true but honestly I don't care. It was obvious that fraud had occurred on my account and I wanted to know I could be refunded and she assured me that I could. I just had to make a claim on Tuesday the next business day and my money would be refunded. Also she would send me another card and they would track my account for 10 days.
I got back to DC and I started school (19credits) and I made my claim that Tuesday and they temporally gave my money. I finally received my new card but to stupidly I never changed my pin, I'm from NC and I'm used State Employees Credit Union where they give you your pin so when I got my card I thought nothing of it, I figured the worst was over they wouldn't deny my claim and I could go on with my life.
Well not quite, I got a new card even that dumb small one WHICH I DIDN'T ASK TO RECIEVE. I kept that small card in my house which I share with a number of People, who then have friends that come over and I do too. I went to check my account one day saw and I had -400 dollars in my account when I had just over 1,000 two-three days ago. I checked the transactions online and more than half weren't mine. I went home to look for that small card, tore my room apart and it's was not there.
