I am a college education female in my 20s working on my masters degree and made a poor decision with a dental office to get cosmetic work done to find out later that the cost of the work was 3x more than I was qouted. After many discussions with the dental office over a period of time and getting no where with them by account was sent to Alternative Recovery Management. I was contacted by "jennifer" at the company. I have never dealth with a collection agency before but have heard the horror stories. Omg! Working with this "jennifer" at Alternative was a nightmare. She was just plain out rude and very hostile. And i was probably one of her better cases as i paid the debt of $1700 off over the phone with her the day after she contacted me. A few things really irrated me about this lady and the company she worked for. 1.) she calls me out of the blue and is surprised that i dont know who she is and then from there on it is rude. 2.) she tells me i will be served with papers from their attorney (basically some attorney they buy the right to use their name from that they dont work with at all in the "serving papers sense" (so dont be alarmed by this jubmo mumbo) 3.) she had to go talk to her supervisor numerous times throughout the couple phone convos we had and when i asked to speak to him he wasnt available. 4.) they completely LIED to me and told me I had a Discover card with a $6,000 balance on it!!! That couldnt be further from the truth. The balance was $300 and never ever had it been reached anything near that amount. She said i couldnt work out a payment plan with them bc of this balance and when i told her i had my statement in front of me showing the $300 balance she told me sorry but she sees that it is $6000. WTF!?! How she got this info i dont know. Their is a $6,000 associated with the card and that is my limit. She later tripped up and told me that my balance is $6,000 and that I have used $300 of it. Uhhhh i explained to her what she just said and she still didnt care!!! So bottom line about this whole ordeal is yes, my account went to collections, i now owed this money to the collection company that bought the debt from my dental office (although i still do not agree with the amount i was changed (whole other story) BUT damn do they have to be so unreasonable to work with? I know they probably work with a lot of idots (sorry if your one of them) but if someone is actually willing to pay the debt and is a reasonable person to work with why do they still have to be so word and tell so many freakin lies. These poor people like "jennifer" who have to do this kind of work for a living probably will have about 20 years taken off their life by working in such a stressful and hostile job. I can thank god that i have the education and ability to not have to settle for work like that!
