I used Acushield Financial/Fresh Start America for 3 years. I paid them every month (directly from my checking account) on time every month. I sent in my statements, letters, etc. It started out fine. Then once I started receiving summons to appear in court for the companies I owed to collect their money, Acushield Financial was no where to be found! They finally settled one of my accounts after months of me pestering them to do so! I finally got tired of the whole thing and cancelled my account with them. That was March 4. I was told it would take 60 business days to review my account and then a check would be sent to me for the amount in my account with them (roughly $2300), pending any fees that I might still owe them. What those fees would be I don't know (the first $1500 I paid them was their fees!!!). So, now I call all the time, leave messages with different people and never get a returned call from any of them. It's my money and I would like it to pay off the debts that I still have since they can't seem to do their job.
I don't know what else to do but seek legal advice and help to get my money back. My warning to everyone is: If you're in debt, don't go to a company to help you, call the creditors yourself and work something out with them. It's less painful to you in the end.
