When I worked at the Sharonville office of this Broker/Bank, I witnessed Jim Reed reduce several women to tears with his treatment of them. There were only 3 female loan officers in the division and he fired us all.
The first was a single mother of 3 children - 2 with diagnosed disabilities - he cut her loose just before summer when there would be significant child care expences while looking for a new job.
The second was the sole support for her family because her husband is a Disabled Veteran of the Iraq War. Three weeks before Christmas, Jim Reed went on a tirade where everyone could hear - screaming at this poor woman that she was a "waste of desk space" and he needed her office for someone who could really do the job (a man took her place.)
I was the last to go. The whole office had a terrible month generating loans in January - the standard down-time in the business - but I was the only loan officer (and the only woman left) to receive written discipline for the low numbers.
Over the next 2 weeks I originated 4 new deals with $16,000 in fee volume attached - other men in the office had nothing in their pipeline - and yet Jim Reed told me he had "no confidence that I would be able to get my numbers up" and fired me. My office went to another man! He effectively got rid of all the women. The EEOC has been notified.
