Reading thru the reports I have found that I am not the only victim of Triad Financial. My husband and I bought an Expedition in Nov. 2001. The payments were $575.86 per month. We had paid the payments and also deferred 6 payments, finishing our loan in Nov. Our original payoff date was 60 months, but because of the deferred payments it went too 66. One morning this past April... Someone is banging on my front door just after my husband leaves for work. Its the repo guy, stating that he is here for the truck. I am confused! We paid that truck off last November! I told him he would have to come back and supply me with his information because I was unable to get in touch with my husband and I am more than sure there was a mistake. I then call Triad. They advise me that there is an outstanding balance of $3800. So I asked why I never received this information and that I would like a break down of my financial history with them. I was told it was to be faxed over to me in 20 min. And yup you guessed it. No fax. I call back to speak to a supv named Rick, whom never returned my calls. I then got someone else who told me that they wanted the payment in full. So I asked when I received the info that there were late fees accrued, if I could make payments. I was told NO, that I could have been making payments on it since Nov, but there will be no payments accepted now, unless it was in full. I told them that in the meantime, I would see what I could do to come up with this money and they will need to indeed verify that I owe this amount. Then I would make a payment. They said they were to mail out the history report. A few hours later, I get another phone call back from Triad, the same guy. He starts yelling at me over the phone, screaming "Your concealing the vehicle?!" I said excuse me? He said, "Are you concealing the vehicle!?" I told him no, it is in the garage, along with my other cars. I am not concealing it. The truck is garage kept. So he starts on a tantrum how I am concealing the vehicle... And at this point I feel like I am being scolded by a teacher like I am 5 years old. I told him I do not have to accept this behavior from him and to please send me the report, and hung up on him.
To date I have not heard from them. Oh I forgot to mention, they said they will not release my lien to my title until it is paid. Now, I have been out of work for some time now due to an injury sustained while on the job. We have financial issues just like anyone else. We are working to come up with the money, but in the meantime I do not know what else to do. They have harassed us over the years if we were even one day late. I regret not sending in the final payment via check and endorsing the back with "Final Payment." I was so happy to finally pay off this truck and get them out of our lives. But they continue to harass you like and pester you like roaches.
I have paid $23k for the sale amount of the truck plus an additional $19k in interest. That almost doubles the amount of the truck that was paid to them. Why not harass the kid who just bought that Mercedes and has only paid back 6 payments so far! I have NEVER had this problem with any other financial institution! Stay far away!
