Let me add to the litany of folks who have been threatened, harrassed, and mistreated by this offensive corporation. How they can legally continue to do business is a mystery to me! Like everyone else, I did not choose Fairbanks. They assumed my mortgage when I was in Chapter 13 a few years back.
When they told me I was behind on my payments, I requested a payment history. They provided it, and it verifies that my mortgage is paid up to date and on time, and has not been in arrears since my bankruptcy in 1999. Despite this, they send me monthly form letters threatening to foreclose on my home and want to charge me about $1800 in late fees. They let this go for three years, and only told me about when I called them on another matter. They answer my inquiries and demands with form letters, and refuse to return my calls.
Most recently, they actually asked me for copies of all my returned checks to document the payments! Why do they need my checks when we are in complete agreement on the number and amount of payments? It's as though one part of the company handles foreclosures, and another handles the payment records, but neither bothers to talk to the other.
They also have failed to pay my taxes and insurance on time, nearly causing my insurance to be cancelled. This company needs to be investigated by the FTC and the attorneys general in every state they do business.
