I used to have a Bank of America credit card. I made the mistake of working with a debt consolidation agency to make all of my bills into one payment. After one year, I left the consolidation and began to make payments on my own again. BOA promised me a fresh start. What I received was calls from FIA Card Services and abusive language. I terminated their right to call because I do not put up with anyone who 1. Calls me a liar, 2. Says I "must be ignorant or simply not understand English, and 3. Calls my house every fifteen minutes after I tell them they are not to call me again. I sent a cease and desist letter then started getting calls from cell phones telling me to call an 800 number that was, you guessed it, FIA Card Services. These calls only stopped after I filed a police report for stalking.
Finally, BOA asked if I was interested in settling the debt once and for all. Of course I was interested and accepted their offer. I then followed the instructions of the letter to a T. The letter said I could either pay by phone or mail my payment. Oh no, Bank of America said that even though their letter was in writing with specific instructions, I could not mail in my payment. They wanted my bank account numbers to take the money directly out of my account and even became hateful when I refused to allow them access to my personal finances.
How can someone as large as BOA keep up their reputation by lying at every turn, even when their agreement is in writing? Perhaps we should start sending our complaints to our respective states (which I am doing as we speak) and change their attitude about bullying people around.
