I wanted to reduce my balance with Providian due to their outrageous interest rates well in excess of 20%. I applied to Chase Bank for a exceptional low interest rate credit card which I received I wanted pay down Providian. I sent them what I thought was a balance transer check from Chase for over $2000.00. I found out later the check was declined. I called Chase and they informed that the check was a cash advance check and the wrong kind for balance transfers. They sent me out new balance transfer checks.
I informed Providan of the mistake. They charged my account a return check charge as so did Chase. Chase waived their fee after I explained the above Providian declined. I have been a member of Providan since 1997 and have paid my bills on time. They declined to do this and where rude about it. They stated they had my new check but it didn't make a difference they would not waive it.
This organization is rude and charges excessive interest and are the biggest corporate raiders in America. They really know how to abuse their customers. I would advise anyone to steer clear of this organization.
