My check was declined at a Best Buy last night, and I can't find out why because I can't get a human being at Certegy. I was directed to some voice-prompted idiocy, which I refuse to participate in.
There was more than enough money in my account to cover the check. The snotty little teenage cashier said "my limit was too high" and was mentally incapable of explaining what that meant in reference to a check. The manager just gave me a Certegy card that said call 1-800-770-3792. I called it, but could not get a human, and it kept hanging up on me as I unsuccessfully tried every trick I could think of to get a human.
My account is 6 years old, and my checks in the 700 range.in the past few years, I've only used my checks to pay the rent. I pay my bills online, and make purchases with my debit card. I had to use my check at the Best Buy because I'm waiting on a replacement debit card (lost it on vacation).
I am now worried that I will have problems in the future with EFT online payments because of this. And learning from others's complaints, I will not be providing any of my banking info to Certegy. They do not seem reputable.
And Best Buy has lost a loyal customer, too.
