On, or about Oct. 6 I received a phone call from care credit about an account my wife has with Care Credit. I informed the operator that I was unaware of this account and had never heard of the company he represented.
The operator informed me that my wifes account was behind and he had to get a payment immediatly or it would be reported to the credit bureao. I reluctantly gave the operator my debit card information and authorized a one
time payment of $143.00.
On Feb. 12 while balancing my bank statement I saw a charge of $54.00 drawn on Jan. 28 by automatic debit to GEMB. I called my bank and was informed the transaction was done using my debit card number.
I was told I could dispute the charge and stop payment for a charge of $30.00 or change my debit card for $20.00. I chose to let the charge stand and change my debit card.
I then called the number I had located on thr internet and informed the operator that his company was to never acess my account again and filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Comm.
